I liked both of the videos but, I liked the first video better. I liked it more just because of the girls talking at the same time and they way they spoke made it more interesting. I agree with the message behind both that women should be treated the same as men and shouldn't be looked down upon. I would want my kids to grow up in a world without inequality. Hopefully someday women will be seen as equals to men and be given the same opportunities. This change would need time, but I hope eventually equality will be reached.
I liked the first video better because it was more relatable. The teenage girls were talking about how girls dress on Halloween - if a girl wants to wear a skimy costume, let her. Who are we to sexualise women then criticise them when they choose what to wear?
This is actually a topic I was talking to my coworker about last night. Why is our society so sexist? Men are treated a lot better than women, most of the time anyways. I hope one day we'll live in a world where everyone is equal. I know we have a loooong way to go, but we can get there. Gender inequality makes me angry, so yeah I wish we didn't have such a sexist society. I want my kids to grow up with the thought that everybody is equal and nobody will be treated better because of their gender.
I don't know if I can pick one video that I like the most... Both videos were really good. I think if I had to I'd pick the first one with the teen girls. I liked the message in both of these videos. I think it is something that all women, young and old, need to hear and be reminded. The message in this video is so important, so many girls especially in highschool battle societies expectations every day. It is ridiculous the standards that media and society have set for us. I want my children to grow up in a world where society does not corrupt how women think and feel about their physical beauty.
I think the second video to win because being pretty and ugly is doesn't matter. My child well grow up in a happy place.
I think that the Halloween video wins. I think it wins because it had more of an impact on what I thought about how girls dress on Halloween. I think that it had that impact because it says if I want to dress up as that I will and you can't judge me for that. I liked that it also said if you didn't want to be that "ideal" Halloween costume you didn't have to. They are also right that a lot of girls feel that they have to dress like that because when you get older that's what Halloween is for most girls. I think I would want my kids to grow up in an equal world because everyone should have the same opportunities as everyone else. And even though that may not be the case now I hope that when my kids grow up that they can be, dress and date whoever they want to be instead of having to fit into a box. I also felt that we are old enough for the language and it helped us see what the speakers were feeling
I think the second video won just because of how much more intense she was and the fact that she spoke about the everyday world , where as the girls in the first video talked only about one day, halloween.
I want my children to grow up how ever they would like as long as they are happy with who they are. I still think inequality will be around though, I feel it will always will in some or another. There are just too many people in this world to think that there will never be inequality...
I think the first video was better because it showed girls who are going through the most judgmental time of their life right now. It's pretty brave to stand up in front of everyone and go against the status quo while it's going instead of looking back and thinking what I should have done. Also the way they said it was pretty cool, it kept you interested by changing their volume and almost yelling at you. It was almost like rapping in a weird way
I want my child to grow up in a world where equal opportunities are given to everyone but also gives kids the opportunities to excel at the things there good at. A world where you reward a good job but don't punish a bad job. Everyone reacts to things differently so it would be hard to tell everyone the same thing but I think that is the fairest way.
l
I didn't really like either of the videos because I thought they were just kinda annoying to listen to with the loudness and they way they spoke but the first one wins by the way it's very true on how girls dress Halloween.
I want my children to grow up in the kind of world where they are accepted for who they are and inequality will still exist because I think it will always exist people will have their own opinions and it will be like that forever.
The first video wins to me honestly it was the harsh truth. Why are women dressing like sluts and whores these days? I think it's because they have no self esteem and they just don't care what others think. Men stare at them for hours cause their costume is short, it reveals things that your mother would approve of. They raise you better than that. I want my kids to grow up in a world where everyone is equal, I don't want them to get bully for being different and having their own minds.
I think that the "pretty" video won, but both were really moving and powerful. I think I liked it better because I feel it's closer to the heart of what girls and women feel. Often girls don't feel pretty and that's something that shouldn't be as focused on by themselves and by others. To me that's the video that wins because of the core issue that was spoken. Also, there was swearing in both videos but I feel that maybe it was more powerful in the "pretty" video but maybe it was because of how emotionally she had said it as part of her poetry.
I want my children to grow up in a world where there is safety, from dangerous physical things but also from dangerous words. I wouldn't want my children to grow up thinking that any gender or person is better than another. I hope that inequality wouldn't exist but I don't fully believe that. We have always had inequality amongst ourselves and I don't see that leaving in the next 10 or 20 years. So even though I strongly hope for equality, I don't find it realistic for the future.
The winner of this video is the first one for me. I really liked how you could tell that they practice what they preach by what they chose to wear. It was cool to see how the perspective of a powerful woman is seen as a monster, too. The other video was very powerful though, because of the way it portrayed artificial beauty and how all she wanted to be was pretty when she is so much more.
I do not want my children to grow up like this. I do not want my daughters thinking that they have to wear short skirts and low cut shirts to be beautiful, thinking ultimate goal in life is to be pretty. I do not want my sons to be the d bags some guys are that believe, even expect, that all girls should look like the edited Victoria's Secret angels. Nevertheless, I do believe it will be there. Gender equality is a very strong flow, and it's hard to swim against it.
I believe the first video about the Halloween costumes was more affective in my mind because it was coming from girls my age, on a topic I think we can all relate on though maybe never really noticed because we think it is just what is expected. When you go to buy a costume and all your choices show off your body it's hard to believe it isn't expected. Though I also think we shouldn't be frowned upon for it. Why can't we all just wear whatever we want? Whatever makes us happy, whatever makes us feel comfortable and confident.
Obviously, in the future, as a mother I would want my children to grow up in the best possible world we can make for them. Though there is always going to be issues in the world because not everyone will always agree on everything. So yes, I do believe gender inequality will probably still exist though it has never been a problem in my life and I hope it isn't in my children's either.
I think that the first video won because it made it more entertaining with the different people talking and the humour that was involved. The kind of world I would want y children to live in would be where there is no significant difference between sex or race except for the physical features of course, I hope that inequality won't exist but I anticipate that it will because it has been a part of history for so long that it won't just go away. It's going to take time.
I really enjoyed the first video more because it was much more enjoyable to watch. I like the way they addressed there points in using examples to Halloween, I think all they said were very true an many can relate, the way they also switched person speaking out of the four and you never really knew who was going to speak next which was intriguing. I did enjoy how both were on microphone and trying to make a point- made it more serious to me.
I want my children to grow up in a world they don't have to worry about the small things where they can have carefree days and just be kids. I hope they never have to worry about bullies or being judged how they look/talk , what they want to wear , what sports they want to play etc. I have a feeling inequality will definitely still exist . I really am curious if it
will be worse or get better . I can't really decide what I think because it has a 50/50 chance it could be either or.
I think the second video won because she talked a lot more about the every day life and struggle which made it very intense.
I want my children to grow up in a fare and equal world/environment, just as long as there happy. Hopefully by that time inequality does not exist, so everyone can live a equal and fare live especially my children.
I like the second video better because it explains the certain need girls feel to impress everyone around them, not including themselves. I am noticing more and more in today's society the need that girls feel to look and dress a certain way. Men and women are both be objectified in the media, but women are definitely treated more like objects. I notice this even in school, which is extremely sad. Why am I seeing girls boobs and stomachs and camel toes at school?! It is minus 40 outside! I do not feel it is necessary for girls to reveal their bodies... Especially at school. I know I do not want to live in a world like this, so why would I want my children to? I would hate for my daughter to feel objectified and feel the need to look or dress a certain way to impress a man. I understand that generally everyone wants sex, but honestly, it doesn't need to be shown on the outside, especially when it's in a professional space like school or work. Men need to stop buying into this sick idea and girls need to stop giving in.
I liked the first video because it made lots of good points that I have thought about before. The girls talked about how it's difficult to find Halloween costumes that aren't tiny and skimpy. I have also noticed this. I really liked how they said if a girl decides to wear a tiny Halloween costume it is her decision and not to judge her and if a girl decides to wear a costume that covers up more that again it is her decision and she shouldn't be judged for that either. I hope that my children grow up in a society that is less judgmental.
These two videos really interested me. I thought the first one was the winner not because it kept me more interested but because I liked how it was our age group talking. The girls seem to know exactly how every girl felt and were not just speaking for themselves.
I believe that the world should be equal. Will it be equal in the future? Who knows. It may click to some people that everyone is really the same. I hope my children grow up and respect that everyone should be treated equally. I want them to be happy and will hopefully learn what is right and wrong.
I think the second video at the poetry grand slam wins because it had more emotion in the speech. You could literally feel all her emotion she was projecting, and it made me think about true happiness. I would want my children to live in a racism free world where everyone matters, a world that is equal no matter what colour your skin is, or what religion you belong to. I hope equality doesn't exist, but people in this world are ignorant and I don't think that will change for a long time sadly.
I really liked the first video because it was talking about how society see strong women as unordinary! Also how how society believes that women are still seen in some cases as objects and their body parts have to be sculpted and shown off! I also like how they really stood up for women equality and how their opinions on Halloween costumes were like mine! The second video was also really good! I like how she talked about how some people will go so far in ensuring they have the "perfect body."
I want my children to live in a world where they aren't judged the things they can't change! I want them to love in a world where they feel safe to go places because they know they aren't going to be judged on their body types or their intelligence!
I liked the first video the best because all four women knew what they were talking about and you could also here what the were saying.. I would want my kids to grow up in a world where everyone is treated all the same and not everyone treated differently. Everyone should be treated even if you are a boy or a girl. We're all the same human beings just a different gender.
I liked the first video better because it was more interesting and I didn't quite understand the other one. I like how they weren't judgemental about anything and they were standing up for who they want to be. I want my children to live in a world where they don't have to worry about what they look like or get judged on the stupidest things. I want them to live in a world where everyone is treated equally even if you are from a different religion or race.
I do think there still will be gender inequality as it has been her for ever! I do hope it progresses so it is less like it has over the years! In a perfect work there wouldn't be any human inequality!
The second video won for me - the "pretty" one. They were both very good, but she simply had more passion and emotion in her voice. It was a topic that I strongly related to, because it often feels as if women are not valued for much beyond their appearance.
I'd love for my theoretical children to grow up in a world where they can feel valued for all that they are and not confined by a small word like "pretty" or a skimpy Halloween costume. I want them to grow up in a world where people are comfortable with sexuality and there is more room between the words "slut" and "prude."
I think there's a possibility inequality may disappear. It will take a very long time, but the chance is there. We've eliminated many issues - for example, women have the right to vote, which was not always the case - but with that, inequality has just become more subtle, making it harder to notice and fight against.
The first video was a bit more relatable for me because it's coming from girls who are a lot closer in age. They were very passionate about their topic and I feel that with the fact that people can connect on a better level when a message comes from a means that people can relate to is the reason that the first video got more response from the girls in both classes.
I want my children to grow up in a world where they know their worth and that being "pretty" doesn't mean anything. Sure it might mean you get boys in high school but once those four years have passed and you didn't care enough about school to retain any information that will help you in the real world, you'll have no one. Also I feel inequality will always be around but it's how we handle it that makes the difference. If we say that women are going to change the world and start believing in our selves, one day we will. That's the world I want my kids to grow up knowing.
I liked the "Pretty" video better. Its ridiculous how screwed up our view of what 'pretty' really is. Its honestly terrifying to think about how girls view themselves and others. So often we feel like 'if only I could do this to myself' or 'if only I looked like.." It's disgusting. I would love to live in a world where inequality was unheard of, but I have a feeling that that probably won't happen. I plan to teach my children that we are all equal. ALL of us.
I like second video better. It shows that all women/girls care about being "pretty" and that's what their mother want for them too. Society classifies pretty as something that cannot be achieved naturally, and girls must be full of fake parts and money according to their standards. There is no one specific combination of attributes that make a person pretty, because everyone is pretty in their own unique way. It's too bad society can't see that.
I would like my children to grow up in a world where the only judgement they are faced with is from God. I don't want them to have to worry about being pretty, or what the mean kids are saying at school. I want them to see their beauty inside and out. Unfortunately, I think that inequality will still exist by then.
My opinions on these videos might rock the boat a bit. You see, our society has really gotten to the point where we realize that sexism is not okay. We know this, it is ingrained into out minds and we accept it. Not only that, but I daresay the point has been quite driven home to the extent that it doesn't always seem like a fight for equality anymore.
In the first video about Halloween, the girls talk about how sexualized many costumes for girls have become. I will not deny this at all, as it seems that the "sexy" costumes are everywhere. However, to say that this is all that is available is a bit of a stretch. If a girl wants to dress as a monster, by all means, no one is stopping her. There is no one saying that such a costume cannot be worn because it doesn't show off enough body. In fact, it is still not uncommon for exposing too much to be heavily frowned upon, depending on the circumstance. All things considered, despite push from media or society, women dress how they want to, Halloween included. It doesn't really matter who says what in the end but I really don't feel that anyone is being forced to wear something they don't want to.
The video Pretty surprised me a little bit, and I must say I preferred it over the other video. Whether everything the woman in the video said about how her mother treated her as a child was true or not, it's depressing to think about, and certainly no one should be subjected to that. In fact, I'd have to say that this video is more about raising your children correctly that gender equality. If women find themselves searching for meaning in appearance it is not because of advertisements that tell them so; it is because no one of influence in their life has told them there's more to it than that. In the end of the video I found myself agreeing with her; if I have children I will not raise them to believe beauty is more important than anything else. Sure, it is a fact that exists and looms over our heads whether we buy into it or not, but there is so much more to life than being pretty. If I have children, they will know that who you are is so much more about who you chose to be, how you act and how you treat those around you than merely appearance.
I daresay that gender equality has already been reached. Women and men both have equal legal rights, and equal opportunities. Sure, there will still be discrimination, sexualization, and an array of other problems, but our world is not perfect and never will be. There will always be people who slander, there will always be hate and there will always be blatant attacks on morality, defacing what it right and just. Truthfully, almost every social group you can imagine has people that hate that group. I believe we have equality, though this world will never be perfect. It all comes down to what we are willing to do with it; we can choose to hate other, sure. Then again, we can also choose to hate the people who hate others. Or, finally we can choose to love others and hope that we can teach them to do the same. I know my choice.
I told you I'd rock the boat.
To me the first video I like better. Its true everything is your own choice. If a girl want to dress skimpy go ahead, if a girl wants to be covered up go ahead. People are ALWAYS going to judge. People just need to brush it off. The first one held my attention the longest. Its relatable to me because I know how girls judge others costumes choices. I've grown up in a house where you are beautiful no matter what you would always be accepted. I'm not judged on my appearance but my accomplishments and actions. I can't imagine growing up in a house like the second videos women did. I love to see my children to grow up in a world where people are judged on their looks. Looks are not everything people. You should be judged on whats beneath the skin... but sadly thats not the case right now.

I personally liked the first video better, I feel like this is due to the aspect of comedy it had, however the second video was very powerful as well. (Literally had me saying "hmm" at the end) They both had brought up the truths that lie with a lot of people's actions, with women desperately trying to be something that they're not to feel wanted or important.
Obviously I want the world my future kids live in to not have discrimination, but that may not be the case. Ideally though, in a world that has no discrimination, every person could be who they wanted to be, and instead of having their differences being a weakness, it could be their strength. Honestly though, people would become so diverse, in their culture and thoughts that it would be easier to understand others and be able to help people. This is the world I'd like my children to grow up in. :)
i like the first video with the four girls preaching about how women are treated. its disgustingly true how women are treated, and i agree that who cares what someones wearing? its their choice. who cares how skimpy they look? its theit choice. if youre crazy thats you. your choice im cool with it. i want my children to grow up in a non judgemental world and enviroment. people are cruel nowadays and it seems like some people literally have no heart or feelings, and if my child is gonna judge someone i want to teach them to atleast keep it to theirself, but ultimately i want them to know that people are people.theres no point in judgeing its not gonna change their decisions, and if so your taking away their own character by being mean. no one needs to hear negative things, it just hurts. hopefully inequality wont exist as much but i dont believe it wont ever exist their will be always be inequality no matter where youre from. society is mran and the world i a cruel place that i guess has to be tolerated in order to live
To me, both videos were hard to get into at the beginning, but they both picked up near the end and got me interested and the messages were very clear. But I would say that the first video wins because it appealed to me a little but more than the other just because that's what I was kind of thinking of about hallowwen costumes. The second video does have a point though, that what our mothers want for us is to be "pretty" or that's what girls should try to strive for.
I want my children to grow up in a world where everyone is treated the same and it doesn't matter the background of your family, what job you have, how much money you make, or what you look like but I don't that will happen. But I wish everyone could be treated the same, and I would want my children to know that everyone is beautiful in their own way, inside and out.
I think I liked the Halloween video better. It came from the perspective of teenage girls so it became more relatable. I do agree that Halloween costumes are not appropriate and I would never dare to wear one, but if a women wants to wear one, then let it be her choice.
I would hope that my children will be able to live in a society where equality exists. Hopefully there will be some change and all will be fair.
I liked the first video better, I thought it was more relatable. They were talking about how girls dress on Halloween, but I think this could also be about what girls wear in general. If some girls feel more comfortable showing a little more skin than others? So be it. If you feel more comfortable covering up? So what. I don't understand why girls obsess over other girls, it's pointless and a waste of time. I would want my child to live in a world where everyone was equal. All genders, all ethnicities, and all religions. We're all humans, no matter what we look like or believe in, and I wonder to myself how long will it take people to realize that?
The first video was very amusing for me so I am going to give it the win. It also has the same ideas the second video has but not as intense.
The kind of world I would want my kid to live in is where they would be able apprentice themselves for what they look like, not want other people want them to look like.
Realistically, I think inequality will be around for a long time, but there is no reason to stop trying. You can't control other people's actions. All you can do is control your own actions and lead by example.

I think the second video wins. I personally think it wins because it was more inspiring. Her mother was trying to change her and never really liked her for who she was. She wanted her to be pretty but in the end she never ended up feeling loved by her parents or didn't feel pretty.
I want my children to grow up in a world where it doesn't matter what you look like or what you wear. I want them to feel pretty and beautiful without being changed. I want equality to exist when my children are growing up. I don't think it will exist but I hope maybe it will.
