Kony and Freedom of Speech

Continuing the Kony debate . . . A recent effort to create a Kony 2012 group here at the school has met with some resistance.  Over thirty posters were either torn down or graffiti-ed on.  The posters were placed in various places in the school last Friday morning, and very few are still left. Opinions? Post them below in the comments section.

People are allowed to have their opinions but they shouldn't be ripping down posters that someone worked hard to design and took time to put them up.

I think, at this point, people are confused and don't know what to believe (I still don't know what to believe). This may be one way to release some anger/confusion. Some people can be closed minded to the whole idea. These are the ones who say that this is a real thing, and who are very against it. I'm very eager to see how this plays out school wide, as well as world wide.

I don't get the whole (to steal the graffiti-ers word) "hype" over Kony 2012. You're either with it or against it, which is just dumb. It isn't that black and white, there is a lot in between.

I agree with "hug94" when they said that they want to see how this is going to play out throughout the school.

I think that tearing down a poster that you don’t agree with is a pretty poor way of voicing your opinion. If you don’t agree with something then you should explain why you don’t agree with it with reasons and valid points and tearing down a poster is certainly not a reason or a valid point.

if they wanted to prove a point, this is not the way to do it.
if you want your voice to be heard, then speak up.
but silencing someone else because you don't agree with what they are fighting for is not okay.
